GPAC Announces Formation of Youth Symphony Orchestra

Germantown, TN - The Germantown Performing Arts Centre announced the formation of the GPAC Youth Symphony Orchestra (GYSO) at a press conference held Tuesday, April 7 at 3 p.m. at GPAC.
The Orchestra is under the music direction of Pu-Qi Jiang (DMA, Music Director & Conductor of the University of Memphis Orchestra, Founder of the NANJING Youth Symphony Summer Camp in China, Music Director for Music at Penn Wood), and the administrative leadership of GPAC Executive Director Tania Castroverde Moskalenko.
The Germantown Youth Symphony Orchestra is open to students ages 15-19 (grade 9 through college freshman) in the tri-state area, and includes home-schooled students. Participation is by audition only. The GYSO will accept applications until July, with auditions scheduled in August.
The GYSO will operate a 30-week season beginning mid-September and concluding at the end of May, coinciding with the school year. Future plans for the GYSO include summer music intensive, soloist competition, and an international tour.
