GPAC Summer Arts Camps 2018!

GPAC offers opportunities for creative self-discovery through summer arts camps, such as Fairytale Ballet, Fantastic Creatures Art Camp and Play that Guitar. The camps are designed to stimulate artistic talents while providing enjoyable and enriching experiences. Registration starts on March 1, 2018

Session 1: June 11-15, 9-12pm - Full
Session 2: June 18-22, 9-12pm - Full
Ages 3-6, Fee: $150
Child may only sign up for 1 session. 
Experience the magic of Swan Lake in this week long camp through stories and crafts, ballet and creative movement, music and of course fun!  Watch as your little one transforms into a beautiful swan on the final day as we perform for family and friends. 

*Out of this World Drama Camp
June 25-29, 9-12pm
Ages 6-10, Fee: $150
Blast off into a new galaxy as we create stories and characters that are out of this world! We’ll spend the week exploring all things outer space along with interstellar games and fantastical crafts.  Family and friends are invited to see a short presentation on the final day of camp.  

*Dance Sampler
June 25-29, 1-4pm
Ages 6-10, Fee: $150
Can’t decide which kind of dance to take? This camp is great for an a la carte dance summer.  Sample different forms of dance such as ballet, tap, jazz, modern, and musical theatre.  Students will also explore dance history, learn choreography, view dance on video, and play movement games. This is the perfect camp for students who want to find out where they can shine!  The final day will include a short informal performance for family and friends. 
 
Fantastic Creatures
July 9-13, 9-12pm
Ages 5-7, Fee: $160
Magical, mystical creatures will come to life as we embark on the legends that have inspired artists throughout the ages. Unleash your imagination as we paint, sculpt, and draw our way into the fantastic world of dragons, unicorns, griffins, pegasus' and many other mythical beasts! We will finish the week with an art show for family and friends. 

How to Zine
July 9-13, 1-4pm
Ages 8-12, Cost: $160
Get published in this unique summer camp where students will see their drawings, sketches and stories come alive on the pages of their very own zines. Zines (short for magazines) have been around for decades and are a great D-I-Y medium for creative expression. Students will learn design, layout, mixed media, collage, and printmaking techniques for creating their own and collaborative original self-published zines.


Music Performance Workshop
July 16-20, 9-12pm
Ages 10-17, Fee: $175
Ready to take your shredding or vocals to the next level? This camp taught by singer/guitarist Josh Threlkeld, is designed for more advanced students who are interested in translating their skills to the stage. Students will work individually and in small ensembles to build confidence and improve performance technique.  This camp will finish with a showcase for family and friends.  Students must provide their own guitars. 

Play that Guitar
Date: July 23-27, 9-12pm
Ages 8-14, Fee: $175                                                                                                          Need the spark to get you started on the guitar?  Taught by Memphis musician, Josh Threlkeld, this camp is designed to electrify the ability and creativity of a beginning/intermediate student. Students will spend the week sharpening their technique, learning a song and collaborating with peers.  The week culminates in a showcase where students can show off their new songs and skills. Students must provide their own guitars.       

 

*We will offer a supervised lunch hour for students that register for both Out of this World Drama Camp and Dance Sampler.
