GPAC connects children, teachers and schools across the Mid-South to the performing arts through exciting weekday performances in music, dance and theater.
GPAC student performances are specifically designed to engage students on a deeper level by exposing them to high quality performing arts, complementing school curriculum and expanding cultural awareness. These performances, offered at a special reduced rate, are held throughout the year and typically last 1 hour.

GPAC is excited to have this highly anticipated event back at GPAC for a second year. It’s a time of excitement, anticipation and joy for the students of the Madonna School as they prepare a gift of story and song for the community during the holiday season. Students and faculty put a great deal of effort into the production of the play hours spent practicing songs and lines, sewing costumes and making it perfect for friends and family! Everyone has special gifts to give during the holiday season, and this performance is the students’ gift to the community.

The only professional folk dance company in Brazil, Balé Folclórico da Bahia is a 38-member troupe of dancers, musicians and singers that performs a spectacular repertory based on “Bahian” folkloric dances of African origin including slave dances, capoeira (a form of martial arts), samba and those celebrating Carnival. The company presents the region’s most important cultural manifestations under a contemporary theatrical vision that reflects its popular origins.

Memphis’s own New Ballet Ensemble is nationally known for their unique hybrid dance creations, stirring up classical ballet, contemporary dance, tap, hip-hop, flamenco and Memphis Jookin’ into captivating theatrical productions that appeal to all ages. The Ensemble returns to GPAC with Springloaded, featuring Coppélia Remix, a condensed reinvention of the ballet classic set at A. Schwab’s on Beale Street. When lonely toymaker Dr. Coppélius creates a beautiful life-sized doll, high-spirited complications and mistaken identities lead to a happy ending for all.

Since their first appearance in the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston in 2002, the quilts of Gee's Bend have been the subject of much acclaim including being the subject of an Emmy winning documentary and replicated into US Postage Stamps. The Gee's Bend Quilters Collective is currently made up of over 50 quiltmakers who continue to create bold and unique work combining past traditions with modern inspirations.
