Ehud Asherie, "a master of swing and stride" (The New Yorker), is a jazz pianist who integrates the venerable New York piano tradition into his inventive style. From Smalls to the Rainbow Room, from Lincoln Center to The Village Vanguard, Asherie has worked with a broad range of musicians: Eric Alexander, Roy Ayers, Peter Bernstein, Jesse Davis, Bobby Durham, Vince Giordano, Wycliffe Gordon, Scott Hamilton, Ryan Kisor, Jane Monheit, Catherine Russell, Ken Peplowski, Clark Terry, and more.
Asherie has toured clubs and festivals around the world, including South America, Europe and Asia. Asherie’s playing can be heard on countless recordings, including the 2010 Grammy Award-winning soundtrack of HBO’s ‘Boardwalk Empire’. He recently released his twelfth album as a leader, entitled Shuffle Along (Blue Heron Records), a solo piano performance.
Joining Asherie is Zaid Nasser. Nasser is one of the most authentic voices on the saxophone today. As the son of jazz and blues great, bassist Jamil Nasser (neé George Joyner), Zaid was born and bred on jazz. He's played with Cecil Payne, Junior Cook, Jon Hendricks, and Harold Mabern. He spent three years with Calvin Newborn's band in Memphis, crisscrossing the south and playing in roadside juke joints, developing a rich, deep sound all of his own. Zaid worked for three years with organist Bill Doggett, and spent another three with Panama Francis in the Savoy Sultans.
