WATKINS STUDIO THEATER
Get ready to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day as Alice Hasen takes us on a musical journey from classical strings to spirited Irish fiddle! Born in Vermont, she uses her classical background to transform the fiddle into an instrument that can go anywhere, join in with anyone and play anything! Alice formed her "fiddle-powered groove band," Alice Hasen & the Blaze, to do just that, with genres spanning from rock and folk to roots and jazz in her original tunes. She also collaborates, tours and records with both local and national artists, including Radney Foster, Valerie June and Jason D. Williams. Audience members of all ages are invited to clap along to jigs and reels, learn why "the violin sings, the fiddle dances," and even cut a rug themselves!
Now in its 31st season, this program introduces children ages 8 and under to a variety of genres including music, dance, and multicultural arts in an informal concert setting. Parents and children are invited to move and groove in these highly interactive performances held on scheduled Saturdays at 10:30 AM in the Watkins Studio Theater or Highland Capital Performance Hall. Tickets are Pay-What-You-Can.
